Je suis allée au Ecology Retreat Center pour une retraite de 5 jours au mois de mars. C’était un bel endroit pour la retraite : il y a un joli ruisseau et un petit chemin boisé qui relie les bâtiments. La nourriture y est excellente. Par contre, certaines choses pourraient être améliorées pour en faire un endroit plus invitant à y revenir. Les chambres sont assez spacieuses et les lits étaient confortables. J’aurai, par contre, aimé avoir un bureau pour écrire au lieu deux tables de chevet dans la chambre à trois. Les douches étaient relativement fonctionnelles. Je pense que j’aurais aimé un endroit plus intime pour m’habiller ainsi qu’un endroit où mettre mes produits d’hygiène autre qu’au sol quand je prends ma douche.

Ce que j’ai surtout trouvé absolument exceptionnel de cet endroit, c’est la qualité des repas, tous faits maison. Une attention spéciale est offerte pour les personnes qui ont des allergies et intolérances. J’ai aussi aimé la grande salle, mais je trouvais qu’il manquait de toilettes dans ce bâtiment (il n’y en avait que deux individuelles). En effet, lorsqu’on se réunissait dans la grande salle, il pouvait se former des files d’attentes pour pouvoir passer à la toilette.

Je pense que l’été, l’endroit doit être formidable. Par contre, durant l’hiver, je trouve moins attrayant, car les sentiers pédestres ne sont pas déneigés pour permettre une balade à pied. De plus, le sentier reliant les bâtiments était mal entretenu considérant la glace qui s’y formait. J’ai dû emprunter une fois le chemin partagé avec les voitures pour me rendre au bâtiment principal à partir du dortoir.

This retreat center is a very special place for nature lovers. The forest trails, pond, stream running through the middle of the grounds, pool, and countless areas to wander and explore surrounded by greenery, silence and stillness- make it a very special place. The animals- wild turkeys, chipmunks, fish in the pond, birds, caterpillars, butterflies, squirrels, I could go on. A magical land, and the accommodations clean and comfortable. The meals lovingly prepared, fresh and tastey. Lovely place to experience a silent meditation retreat with Louise Kay and reconnect with nature.

I just finished a week-long retreat with Louise Kay at Ecology Retreat Centre. The nature there is so beautiful and the centre itself was clean, staff were friendly and accommodating, meals were varied and made with care. All around great place to retreat!

Attended the Az Zahra retreat here pre -Covid and again this weekend. This place is amazing!! The staff are very warm and welcoming. They were culturally responsive and provided a space and meals to support a Muslim women group. Property was very clean and well equipped. They had air purifiers and hand sanitizers in many areas. Beautiful trails all around. Not only did they serve delicious meals, they also willingly shared recipes. Very grateful for the amazing experience. Hope to be back.

We've held a number of retreats at Ecology and we are really happy with this location. The grounds are beautiful, it is so lovely doing yoga with the sound of a babbling brook beside the yoga room. The food is the best we have had at the numerous retreats we've tried. There is always plenty for everyone which is great because people get hungry doing lots of yoga.

As long as you are coming for your retreat and nature getaway, not to have a spa experience, I think you will enjoy yourself. I have hosted 3 spring retreats there and have always found the place very clean and the staff very attentive. They ask people to let them know about problems while you are there so they can do something about it asap.

It is a simple lodge that used to be a kids camp, with shared bathrooms and separate buildings for the kitchen and the yoga. Each room has its own heating control, it is warm and comfortable. If you know what you are signing on for it helps.

We also love the kitchen off the upper yoga room and we keep Yogi Tea going all weekend. It's often the "kitchen party" space for many informal peanut hours to snack and gab.

You can also enjoy the hiking trails all around, and the retreat activities, and the closeness to Toronto (only an hour away).

For this price range, I think it is money well spent!
